FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT 3 DECEMBER 2017

  1. Today we are celebrating the first Sunday of Advent. We prepare to commemorate the dawn of our salvation through the Nativity of our Saviour. Gloria is not sung or recited during this period.
  2. Today we are receiving and blessing Tithe (10%). May God bless the work of your hands abundantly.
  3. Today Rev. Fr. Joseph Wanjohi is celebrating all masses in thanksgiving after his priestly ordination on Friday. We are invited to present our gifts to him in appreciation for the good work he is doing for the Church. We will also have a luncheon in his honour after the 11.30 a.m mass where Church groups will have an opportunity to present their gifts. Let us continue praying for and supporting him.
  4. Friday 8th December will be the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary; a day of obligation in the Catholic Church. Therefore, we are all encouraged to attend Holy Mass on this day
  5. Fr. Samuel Warari will celebrate with us his thanksgiving mass next Sunday 10th December here at Basilica. Church groups and individual Christians are encouraged to prepare a gift for him as a sign of appreciation for the good work he did and still doing for the Church. Rev. Fr. Samuel Warari was also ordained a priest on Friday.
  6. We are encouraged to be visiting Holy Family Basilica website holyfamilybasilica.info. The website contains Parish history, daily mass readings, mass sermons, articles, mass schedule, up to date Church news, Church group profiles among other important resources.
  7. We are all encouraged to read the Bible to be more enlightened in our faith. This week we are reading with our families the book of Wisdom Chapter seventeen.
  8. We have started preparing for this year’s parish family day which will be on 17th December 2017. We will mark the Eucharistic celebrations with the first Holy Communion children and receiving fifty new Christians or catechumens. The celebrations will include a sports day on Saturday 16th, health clinics from Friday15th to Sunday 17th and luncheon on Sunday 17th. We encourage everyone to participate in all activities.
  9. The ground-breaking ceremony for the Archdiocese of Nairobi parking will be held tomorrow 4th December 2017 at 9.30 a.m here at Basilica. The construction works will commence on 2nd January 2018. Details on alternative parking will be provided later.
  10. Fr. Joseph Oguok invites Christians from St. Joseph Ugunja Catholic Parish residing in Nairobi to attend a meeting next Sunday 10th December 2017 at United Club next to St. Paul’s Chapel at 2.00 P.M.
  11. Baptism for infants takes place every last Saturday of the month preceded by four sessions of baptismal instructions for parents and godparents every Thursday at 5.30pm. Parents are advised to choose saints’ names that are recommended by the church and not alien to Christian faith
  12.
